The handcrafted jewelry of Perez de Vecchi

The handcrafted jewelry of Perez de Vecchi From the rediscovery of a goldsmith's diary to a collection that combines traditional craftsmanship and modern sensibility

Perez de Vecchi is an Italian contemporary jewelry brand founded by Gaia Perez and Federica Vecchi. Its origins trace back to the discovery of an old diary belonging to Gianni Perez, a Neapolitan goldsmith active in the last century. The notebook contained notes, sketches, and formulas, becoming the foundation for a project that blends goldsmith tradition with contemporary sensibility. Perez de Vecchi's jewelry is born from a narrative and manual approach: each piece tells a story and reflects the value of the time dedicated to its creation. The making process uses the lost-wax casting technique, an ancient method that allows for the shaping of unique, ever-different forms, marked by manual intervention. This is combined with hammer finishing, which gives the metal a textured and irregular surface. The combination of volcanic textures, file engravings, and contrasts between matte and polished surfaces gives life to jewelry with a lived-in feel, balancing imperfection and harmony. Stones are set deep within the metal, almost hidden. In particular, the blue sapphire, recurring in many pieces, is not prominently displayed but revealed only upon close inspection. This is a deliberate choice, expressing an intimate and contemplative aesthetic vision: the value is meant for the wearer, not for external observation.

The collection includes several main models. “Now Beauty” is a chevalier ring in 9-carat gold, featuring volcanic texture, file engravings, and a blue sapphire. The “Now Beauty Red” version, created for the Valentine's Day 2025 capsule, replaces the sapphire with a red gemstone. “Nomàde” retains the chevalier shape but is made of 925 silver with 18-carat gold plating, keeping the same textures and the sapphire. “The Words Found Again” is a two-tone 18-carat gold ring directly inspired by the rediscovered diary, featuring file finishing and a set blue stone. “ATLAS” is a more compact and elegant version in two-tone 9-carat gold, while “GREEK ODE” consists of a pair of chevalier rings in silver and gold-plated silver, alternating smooth and volcanic surfaces. “11PM” presents a more elaborate design, with 9-carat gold in three tones (yellow, rose, and white), file-engraved textures, and a small central diamond. Lastly, “DOORSTEP” represents essentiality: a ring in yellow and white gold without gemstones, worked only with file and hammer. Earring production follows the same philosophy. The “Radio Winter” line, in 925 silver, explores the theme of silence through minimal forms and volcanic textures. “Overture” includes three models in silver and gold-plated silver with blue sapphires, evoking the feeling of a new beginning. The “Credo” series, composed of three modular variants, combines silver, gold plating, and blue stones to reflect the relationship between personal faith and individual freedom.
